Teach a Feature
Using the H.E.R.E.
Rolodex

The H.E.R.E. Rolodex is a searchable database of about 200 community health professionals in Washington who have an interest in health education and health promotion. People voluntarily add their names to the rolodex and self-select items from a list of interests (topics) and a list of skills. You can search the database of names using any single field or any combination of fields.

To get the most useful results, it is often best to select only one field at a time. People often try to fill in every field when doing a search and are frustrated when they get no results. This is because each field you add is an "and statement," not an "or statement." So the more fields you fill in, the more narrow your search. Some smaller counties have very few people in the database (even though we are adding more names each week). If you are looking for names of people in a smaller county, first start with the county name. You can always add another field if the list is too long.

Then there is the opposite problem: If you search by only one interest or skill, you may get so many names that there will be several pages of results. Be sure to look at the bottom of the "results page" to see if there are additional pages of names.

Adding your name to the H.E.R.E. Rolodex: Click on "Making Connections" on the H.E.R.E. home page. You will see a link for a form to "add your name." Fill in the online form and click the "Add Yourself" button. Remember, however, that this information does not go directly to the database. It comes to the H.E.R.E. team and we add you to the rolodex after we have verified the information. If you need to update any information, just submit a new form. We will make sure the changes are made. If you want to add your name right now, click http://www3.doh.wa.gov/here/rolodex/RolodexForm.aspx.
